ELLTA Conference 2012: Publication Prospects
Since ELLTA is deeply interested in contributing towards developing research culture in Asia, a much-needed dimension to sustain in this Knowledge Era, ELLTA Conferences have a very strong agenda and mandate for producing and supporting scholarly publications. We are sharing below the prospects, plans and procedural details for ELLTA Conference 2012 publications.
Publication Prospects
It is our firm belief (based on reading of the abstracts) that the quality of the papers to be submitted by November 10, 2012 will generally be high and that, therefore, there will be a good opportunity to publish many of the conference papers, or at least that we can advise where the papers may be submitted.
At the moment, we do not intend to publish any conference proceedings from the ELLTA Conference 2011 for the reason is that such a publication may be a constraint when trying to publish the conference paper in other publications, such as journal special issues and edited books.
Details on the publications planned follow.
Special Journal Issues
We have an agreement with the listed journals (and more to be added to the list soon) that they will publish special issues containing sets of papers presented at the conference (if there are sufficient number of quality papers). This is our main commitment, when it comes to publications, and the best and most relevant conference papers will be considered for these journals, first. We believe, though, that there will be many more good papers, in addition to those published in these special issues, and that there, thus, will be reason for us to contact other publications. Thus, there will be lots of publication possibilities. We will share more on this after we have received all the full papers.
Those of you who are interested in getting your full papers considered for the journal special issues, must submit a separate letter to the conference organizers (see further information below), and those of you who want your papers to be considered for any other publications that we possibly will contact, have to send us an additional letter (see below for further information).
Abstract Publication
Please note that the abstracts of all papers presented at the conference will be printed as an appendix to the conference program (and possibly on the website as well), and that all delegates who have submitted full papers to the conference will get access to all other submitted full papers. Please, see below for details on writing the new (and shorter) abstract.

Some Helpful Suggestions
In your full papers, please remember to:
• Present a review of the previous literature in your field.
• Describe explicitly and clearly the theoretical contributions of your paper.
• Describe implications for practice and/or research.
• In case your paper takes up a general phenomenon in a special context (such as ‘Educational innovation in Malaysia’ or ‘Democratic Leadership in Kuwait’), then, please consider the following:
(a) review the literature on the general phenomenon as such or in other contexts;
(b) describe why you study the certain phenomenon in this specific context;
(c) describe what it is, in the specific context, that plausibly might lead to novel conclusions; and
(d) how the described context has affected the results of your study; connect explicitly the findings of your study to the specific context so as to bring out the Asian perspectives, theories and models.
Timelines
Please, note that for several of the Journal Special Issues, we are planning to get them published during fall 2012 or early 2013, which means that those who would like to get their papers published in these have to be prepared for some hard and intensive revision work during 2013 (starting in January-February, 2013).
We wish this to be a scholarly enriching and rewarding experience for all.
